Reason for Losing Out in the DigitalMarketingContest2012

Starting off. My intentions were good. I just want to win.
I use to create/setup blogs for my clients in previous companies. (I have never created blog for me :P). This is the first time I'm doing it for me! WOW finally I did it ;)

I started bit late, but I had my own plans in place. Like from content strategy to link building strategy. Idea Idea :P

Made this blog to get index in Google, and then did nothing. This is where things started going wrong.

After that started seeing my blog once or twice during weekends. I use to think that this Saturday I’ll build some links, add content etc., but that plan will fail, then Sunday then again fail, and then next week again flop.

Though of being smart, I use to think that today I’m going to do competitor analysis and get links, but never dived deep into it!  (But, I have built only 1 link) Even If I have dived deep in to it I would have got only few links I guess (because most of links to other competitors were from their personal blogs/website).

During office hours I use to think that today I have to look after this blog, but once I come to home I get relaxed.  Laziness… Laziness is real sin.

Almost 1 month got over like this. Only 1 week left. My blog was in very worst position. I don’t want to lose very badly :-* So, again started planning.

I don’t have any personal blogs/website where I can place links easily L

So, then started thinking of getting links from friends network (I was not in the position to get links from outsiders, I don’t want to share regarding this to everyone). So went to 2 of the 2nd line of leaders (Eric & Basha) :P. Basha and Eric gave me links from their blogs without asking anything. Thanks a lot guysJ. Then contacted Hari for a link, he is too good, since he was busy; He gave his blog’s login credentials to me :D But I didn’t use his blog (Technically issue :P).  Thank you very much Harikumar J
As usual once again SEO lesson I learned was,
  •          Planning is vital.
  •          Implementation is critical.
  •          Content is necessary.
  •          But links are fate deciders.
  •          Building links is little painful task, If you are not ready to bare that pain. Then you will be the loser for most of the time. Fact Fact Fact!!!

Without putting effort nothing will happen. That is for sure!

According to me these were some of the reasons for losing.

Next time (like everyone… I’m saying) I will try to win. Saying is easily but doing is.......... Ha ha ha….

But few real good things happened; I’m planning to do blogging.  Hoping, that could improve my writing & communication skill. Hmm… Going to register domain soon!!!
This might be the last post in this blog! Thanks a lot J

Save your Advertising Budget Through Digital Marketing

Pritchard - Head of marketing for P&G's(Procter & Gamble Co.) says they are aiming to save $10 billion by 2016, cutting $1 billion from its marketing budget.

Sneak peek of his interview to The Wall Street Journal,

Mr. Pritchard: Some brands that have very little money get very innovative. Aussie [Hair Care] is 100% digital. Secret [deodorant] is 100% digital. Old Spice [deodorant] didn't have that much money. They didn't advertise "Smell Like a Man, Man" at the Super Bowl, it was before the Super Bowl. Then they got this huge lift on YouTube, then they amplified it in PR, amplified it on Twitter.

He spokes with The Wall Street Journal about the company's digital-media and other marketing plans. To view complete interview just visit P&G's Marketing Chief Looks to Go Digital. Very informative article, well worth a read!!
